Een expositie bij volkstuin de Piccardthof w/ Lily Dollner, Silke Riis, Jens Huls, Naomi Hettiarachchige-Hubert, Madeline Elisabeth Peccoux, Beth Ki Yi Wong, Alex Murphy.
Als gras niet gemaaid wordt, groeit het langer en begint het samen te klonteren. Een “clump” is een “bundel”, een “verzameling”, een “groep”. “To clump” betekent “ samenbrengen”. Twee weken lang zijn de kunstenaars ongemaaid gelaten, groeiend tot een kluit midden in je tuin, onder je schoen, in je bomen.
De groepstentoonstelling is het resultaat van harmonieus samensmelten en samenwerken binnen de gemeenschap van Piccardthof. Zeven kunstenaars begonnen als vreemden en kwamen bijeen om op een nog onbekende locatie te verblijven en nieuwe kunstwerken te maken. De collectieve aanpak werd gekenmerkt door een gedeeld verlangen naar intentionele naïviteit en radicaal positivisme. Ze stelden vragen over het begrip vrije tijd – wat betekent het om je te ontspannen, wie van ons kan zich dit voorrecht veroorloven en in welke mate?

When grass isn’t cut, it grows taller and begins to clump together. A clump is a “bunch”, a “cluster”, a “grouping”. To clump means “to gather”. For two weeks the artists have been left uncut, growing into a clump in the middle of your garden, under your shoe, in your trees.
This group exhibition is the result of harmoniously merging-into and clumping-together, within the community of Piccardthof. Seven artists began as strangers, and came together for the opportunity to reside in an unfamiliar location, to build together and generate new artworks. This collective approach is marked by a shared desire for intentional naivety and radical positivism. They began to ask questions relating to the concept of leisure – what does it mean to relax, who among us can afford this privilege, and to what extent?
