Stap in de wereld van Bas Jan Ader – kunstenaar, verzetszoon, mythe. In 1975 verdween hij spoorloos op zee. Nu, vijftig jaar later, brengen Academie Minerva & Stichting Gedeelde Verhalen zijn werk en leven opnieuw onder de aandacht. Voor Noorderzon bundelen beide projecten hun krachten in The Fall 2025 – Bas Jan Ader Revisted: in zintuiglijke performance-installatie over vallen en falen, verliezen en hervinden. Een ode aan het ongrijpbare.

My dog ate my homework

Jaarlijks vragen Kunstpunt Groningen en Noorderzon een Groninger kunstenaar een kunstwerk voor het Noorderzon Festival te maken. Dit jaar is dat Chiara Tammaro. Speciaal voor het festival maakt Chiara het kunstwerk My dog ate my homework.

Chiara liet zich inspireren door jeugdherinneringen aan typische smoezen – zoals het Britse “my dog ate my homework” of het Nederlandse “de brug stond open”. De installatie bevat alle archetypische beeldende kenmerken van een brug, die volledig uit hun context zijn gehaald. Zo ontstaat een absurde situatie. De brug, een symbool van verbinding, wordt iets dubbelzinnigers: een metafoor, een obstakel, een vraagteken.

Het kunstwerk speelt met perceptie en verwachting. Chiara nodigt je uit om stil te staan, te observeren en te heroverwegen wat je ziet.

Being Naked: fotopresentatie + talkshow 

In Grand Theatre ontdek je het fotowerk van Emily Wortel, die hierbij steun kreeg van NonFiction Photo

Deze fotopresentatie is een eerlijke ode aan het lichaam zoals het werkelijk is: veranderd door tijd, leven en liefde. In directe, onbewerkte beelden nodigt de kunstenaar je uit om anders te kijken: zonder schaamte, zonder filter, zonder oordeel. Een visueel pleidooi voor body positivity, zelfacceptatie en het loskoppelen van naaktheid van seksualiteit.

Naast de fotopresentatie is er ook twee keer een talkshow: Being Naked on Stage. Centraal hierin staan de vragen: Hoe verandert je blik op je lichaam door het leven heen? En wat als naakt zijn niet spannend of sexy hoeft te zijn, maar gewoon… echt?

In deze persoonlijke en prikkelende talkshow deelt de maker haar verhaal over moederschap, kunst, onzekerheid en schoonheid. Een gesprek over kijken en bekeken worden, over normen en vrijheid. En bovenal: over het vieren van het lichaam zoals het is.

Thursday, August 14th, it’s back in full swing: Noorderzon! A mix of international arts festival and a grand summer party, taking place at various locations in Groningen city, with the Noorderplantsoen park as its epicenter. Enter the world of Bas Jan Ader – artist, son of the resistance, myth. In 1975, he disappeared without a trace at sea. Now, fifty years later, Academie Minerva & Stichting Gedeelde Verhalen are bringing his work and life back into the spotlight. For Noorderzon, both projects join forces in The Fall 2025 – Bas Jan Ader Revisted: a sensory performance installation about falling and failing, losing and finding. An ode to the elusive.

My dog ate my homework

Every year, Kunstpunt Groningen and Noorderzon commission a Groningen artist to create an artwork for the Noorderzon Festival. This year, it’s Chiara Tammaro. Chiara created the artwork “My dog ate my homework” specifically for the festival.

Chiara drew inspiration from childhood memories of typical excuses—like the British “my dog ate my homework” or the Dutch “the bridge stood open.” The installation incorporates all the archetypal visual features of a bridge, completely taken out of context. This creates an absurd situation. The bridge, a symbol of connection, becomes something more ambiguous: a metaphor, an obstacle, a question mark.

The artwork plays with perception and expectation. Chiara invites you to pause, observe, and reconsider what you see.

This photo presentation is an honest ode to the body as it truly is: transformed by time, life, and love. In direct, unedited images, the artist invites you to see differently: without shame, without filter, without judgment. A visual plea for body positivity, self-acceptance, and decoupling nudity from sexuality.

In addition to the photo presentation, there will also be two talk shows: Being Naked on Stage. Central to this talk show are the questions: How does your perception of your body change throughout life? And what if being naked didn’t have to be exciting or sexy, but just… real?

In this personal and thought-provoking talk show, the creator shares her story about motherhood, art, insecurity, and beauty. A conversation about looking and being looked at, about norms and freedom. And above all: about celebrating the body as it is.
