Kunsthuis SYB verwelkomt een collectief van drie kunstenaars Reinout Scholten van Aschat, bas van den hurk en Jochem Laarhoven. Van 2 april – 12 mei 2024 werken zij aan hun onderzoeksresidency getiteld “part 54 or: reel real pul, and this part is no longer ly handy here”.
Bij SYB werken de kunstenaars in de geest van de multidisciplinaire karakter van Dada, waarbij ze de ui herinterpreteren voorbij zijn letterlijke betekenis. Ze halen inspiratie uit het gedicht “De Ui” (1919) van Kurt Schwitters en het artikel “Dadaïsme in Nederland” (1923) in het tijdschrift Merz.
De materialen die zij in deze context verzamelen, zetten Reinout, bas and Jochem om in theatrale scènes, ze maken er audio-collages van, muziek, performances, gerechten en korte films.
Kunsthuis SYB welcomes a three-artist collective: Reinout Scholten van Aschat, bas van den hurk and Jochem Laarhoven for a research residency entitled “part 54 or: reel real pul, and this part is no longer ly handy here” until May 12, 2024.
At SYB, the artists work in the spirit of the multidisciplinary nature of Dada, reimagining the onion beyond its literal meaning. They draw inspiration from Kurt Schwitters’ poem “The Onion” (1919) and the article “Dadaismus in Holland” (1923) in Merz magazine.
Using the materials gathered in this context, Reinout, bas and Jochem transform them into theatrical scenes, audio collages, music, performances, dishes, and short films.
